About David Collings

I hold the Chair of Sustainable Business at Trinity Business School. Previously I was on the faculty at Dublin City University, University of Sheffield Management School, at the National University of Ireland, Galway and a Visiting Professor at King's College London, Nanyang Business School, Singapore and Cornell University as a Fulbright Scholar. I have researched and consulted with many multinational companies around the future of work, global mobility and talent management. My recent work focuses on building the links between global mobility and global talent and I am currently working on better understanding how organisations can future proof their workforces in the context of the changing nature of work. I was named by HR Magazine as one of the Most Influential Thinkers in HRM globally on five occasions, most recently in 2021. My speaking and consulting engagements have included Abbott, Abbvie, Airbus, Bank of Ireland, the Danish Confederation of Industry, Enterprise Ireland, EY, KPMG, GE, Google, Intel, Medtronic, Mercer, Stryker and Zurich. I regularly contribute to media discussions on key issues around work and workers. My academic work in these areas has been published in leading outlets such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Science, and Personnel Psychology. I have also published in Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review. I have edited 12 books and am former Editor-in-Chief of the Human Resource Management Journal, the Journal of World Business and the Irish Journal of Management. In 2015 my research was recognised with the DCU President's award for research. I am an elected Member of the Royal Irish Academy and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, Irish Academy of Management and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
