Lights, Camera, Interaction. I started making movies with my friends when I was 10 years old. In high school, I convinced a few teachers to let me make short documentary films instead of written reports. I remember how excited I was to discover that I could study filmmaking in college, and eagerly applied to the best film schools, NYU, UCLA and USC. I was rejected from all three! I had been an average student and lacked motivation in high school, but suddenly found the motivation I needed to excel. I wanted to go to one of these three schools. I spent my freshman year at the University of Arizona, studying television production. I learned that, when properly motivated, I could achieve what I thought was impossible, a perfect 4.0 average. I was fortunate to have wonderful professor, who wrote a strong letter of recommendation for my transfer application to NYU, and I was accepted! I’ve spent my professional life creating programs that engage, educate and motivate audiences through visual and interactive media. I have been fortunate to work with some legendary personalities, such as Walter Cronkite, Ken Burns, Anthony Fauci, on award winning and Emmy nominated television, sales training and marketing programs that I produced and directed. I remain a lifelong film and video professional and enthusiast and I enjoy the challenge of aligning visual media and interactivity to help my customers reach their goals. As a content creator, I enjoy researching and recruiting experts to add depth and credibility to my clients' projects. As a visually oriented person, I work to make sure those projects are stimulating, engaging and effective, with the ability to measure success. For the past 5 years, I have also been an adjunct professor at the County College of Morris, our local community college, as I pursue a master’s degree in digital communications. I love to work with young adults who are just beginning their journey into digital media and television and help to motivate them to pursue careers in the field. Last semester, on the first day of class, a student shared that her goal was to attend NYU’s Film School. Later in the semester, she asked if I could write a letter of recommendation for her. I reflected on my own experience, decades before, and was thrilled to write her recommendation. The highlight of my teaching experience was on the last day of class, when this young lady entered the lecture hall with a large smile on her face. She said, “Professor Comora, I checked the NYU admissions portal just before leaving for class… I was accepted!”.
