About David Coxon

David R. Coxon joined Georgia Primary Bank in February 2012. A lifelong Georgia banker with over four decades of banking experience he began his career as a teller. His banking experience spans a wide range of disciplines in commercial and community banking. Over the past twenty years he has held executive management positions with various institutions. David’s early career started with Columbus Bank & Trust which is the lead bank for the Synovus Corporation. His mid-career was spent with BankSouth Corporations in Macon, Savannah and Atlanta. He also has held executive positions with UnitedBank and United Community Bank, Inc. 2008 he accepted the role of CEO for several banks in Georgia and Florida working to navigate the financial crisis of the great recession. In 2012, he was given the opportunity to join Georgia Primary Bank located in the dynamic Buckhead market. Under his leadership, along with an experienced management team, Georgia Primary has weathered uncertain times and difficult circumstances. Today Georgia Primary Bank has emerged as a strong institution serving its community. David is a member of the Georgia Bankers, Community Bankers and the Risk Management Associations. He serves on the Community Bankers and Credit Committees of the Georgia Bankers Association and is past chair of the credit committee. Also, David is a lifetime member of the Risk Management Association having chaired their Community Bank Council and in 2010 was elected national chairman for the Risk Management Association. He is a past instructor for the Georgia and South Carolinas Banking Schools. Involved in both community and civic activities he serves on the board of the Buckhead Business Association as president-elect 2016. He has served on various boards such as America Red Cross, American Heart Association, United Way, Chamber of Commerce, International Association of Administrative Professionals and the Executive Council for Boy Scout of America.
