About David Coyle

Lead Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) research at Gartner, the world’s leading research and advisory company. Working at Gartner has allowed me the opportunity to offer the insights and actionable advice that I&O Leaders need to be successful. I am surrounded by some of the brightest minds in the IT industry and push myself and my fellow analyst to produce fresh, though leading research. I manage a global team of analyst responsible for coverage of the Infrastructure and Operations market. I am at the forefront of trends and best practices in all areas of I&O including DevOps, IaaS, SaaS, Hybrid Cloud, I&O Security, ITSM, Agile, Automation, and more. My first passion is IT Service Management where I have written many research notes, presented at dozens of events, and spoken to thousands of clients on this subject. IT organizations that excel at IT Service Management are able to change the conversation with the business and move from a reactive, cost center to a proactive and innovative business partner. My current passion is growing IT maturity and I managed the launch of Gartner's IT Score which includes maturity assessments tools, benchmarking, and actionable insights to help IT organizations move to the next level of maturity. I also have an extensive international background and have in my career managed staff in over 20 countries.
