I'm a Principal Analyst at JBA Risk Management, specializing in the development of cutting-edge catastrophe flood models and analytics for clients including insurers, governments, and financial institutions. At JBA, I leverage my expertise and knowledge in statistics, hydrology, and R programming to meet the business and technical needs of our clients. Prior to joining JBA in 2018, I completed a PhD is Stochastic Hydrology at Imperial College London. My doctoral research focused on the estimation of short duration rainfall extremes in a changing climate using stochastic models which emulate the structure of rainfall generation in clouds. I have a keen interest in the role of climate dynamics on the hydrological cycle and am passionate about the application of cutting edge research in flood science to address key challenges in industry. I have detailed knowledge of extreme value theory and have contributed to teaching at postgraduate level during and after my doctoral research. Previously, I have 10 years’ professional experience with engineering consultancy firms working in water engineering and management. Principally, I was a project engineer and manager developing options and delivering solutions to manage flood risk in the UK for government and private clients. My skillset includes: R programming, extreme value analysis (EVA), stochastic rainfall modelling, flood and hydrological modelling, model development, research, project management, GIS.
