I started out in Costco in highschool pushing carts. Through hard work and experience I worked my way through 10 different management positions for many years until reaching the Executive level of GM which oversees almost 300 employees with an everage of 21 salaried managers and about 25 supervisors. Costco provided the opportunity to learn from the inside what it takes to be succesfull as a manager and business operator. The company operates with vision for the long term future, not just for an extra penny for tomorrow. Being in this environment since the age of 17, at the 6th warehouse only a few months after it opened and living through and surviving the massive growth has endowed me with a library of experiences that are imeasurable. This real life, sometimes hard knocks experiences, in a company that has grown to the 3rd largest retailer in the world has developed in me a natural ability to run any kind of business. As a GM we do everything from doing the budgets for every department in the warehouse including Meat, Bakery, Deli, Food Court, Gas Station, Tire Center, Optical, Hearing Aid, Pharmacy, and Membership to running all other aspects of those operations. The GM is also in charge of merchandising and point of sale(Frontend). All human resource issues, facility issues, environmental, etc, go through the GM as well. As a tenured GM, I was tasked with turning around a location doing over 200 million a year in sales but that location was actually losing money and in the red. It was a mess, and to top it off, one of the very few Costco's with a Unionized Staff. The P&L was positive after the first year and in year three it made over $3 million. I was then moved to another location whose operations were also in complete dissarray. I've had similar success there after just 18 months. My best quality and what I feel is one of the major keys to my success are my intuitive people skills. I tested as an ENFJ in the Meyers-Briggs personality types which fits only 2-5% of the population. Learn more here: I can help quite a bit with a business that is suffering from poor morale. I am a good listener and show genuine care about the people I work with. I connect with people in a way that builds trust and mutual respect and can teach operators how to to replicate that in their operations. I am likeable. but I am also not afraid to make tough decisions regarding accountability and profit. I'm known for being able to make tough decisions while maintaining respect in the process.
