King I'm David Marsalis Edwards, born in Washington D.C. and raised in a small town in North Carolina known as Winnabow. I'm a country boy, and growing up I realized quickly that complacency was the killer of dreams. While my mother and family were able to provide me with everything I needed to succeed, I realized that in order to grow I'd need to defy what was known to me at that time. Belonging to a small town, growing up my worst fear wasn't getting eaten by bears, or poisoned by snakes, it was falling victim to complacency. Many people around us never ventured far off from our town, and even less ventured out of the state. So when I decided to join the Navy and travel to Atsugi, Japan I knew there was no turning back. The best decision I ever made was to join the Navy, and the second best decision was to Honorably leave it. The growth, and responsibility I retained from my experience reinforce who I am to my core, and propelled me into my decision to leave the service. Being in the Navy you belong to a unit and only outside of the Navy could I explore myself, and my ambitions. Fast forward to today and I have gained many experiences in my life, with a multitude of skills and experiences. Only by discovering what I didn't want in life, could I truly define what was important to me. It's not power, status, or money that particularly motivate me, but instead it's the relentless approach towards refinement and improvement. I have spent my young adult life investing in knowledge, experiences, skills and personal character. This approach has helped me develop the grit, and mindset to thrive in many different environments, positions, and altitudes in life. I enjoy the ability to meet and learn with many different people. I respect those that seek the uncomfortable to find new perspectives. I have chosen to develop my skills regarding meeting, and conversing with people of many different backgrounds, and beliefs to find common ground and learn something new. Sales is the avenue that I have chosen to develop these skills. Sales professionals are often highly misunderstood, so I look forward to sharing my journey. To be successful in Sales requires the consistent battle of negating complacency, while seeking personal growth, refinement, and improvement.
