I am now retired from bp.Until 1st March 2022 I was executive vice president of innovation & engineering, and a member of bp’s leadership team, accountable for bp’s digital transformation, technology development, corporate venture capital investments, engineering, and safety & operational risk assurance capabilities.I attended Harrow School and joined BP in 1982 from Cambridge University with an engineering degree. I was awarded a CBE for my contributions to the UK engineering and energy. I am a fellow of the UK Royal Academy of Engineering, Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining and Institute of Directors, chairman of the John Lyons charitable foundation, and a non-executive director of Sasol (including chair of the Social, Safety & Ethics Committee)
