I am a partner in the FDA/Life Sciences Practice at King & Spalding, focused on pharma coverage, coding and reimbursement issues. I have an extensive healthcare lobbying practice on behalf of a wide range of health care manufacturers and other providers. I am nationally recognized for my experience on Medicare Secondary Payer issues, having been a principal drafter of the SMART Act which revised the Medicare Secondary Payer ("MSP") statute for the first time in 30 years. Recent matters I have worked on include:* Successful lobbying to enact the SMART Act (H.R. 1063, 112th Congress), and working on the effective implementation of the law;* Defended group of third party administrators in False Claims Act litigation;* Successful advocacy before the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS") to reverse Agency rejection of coverage determination. I am a nationally-recognized writer and speaker on Medicare, Medicaid and other healthcare topics, including publications in Drug Chain News, BNA, Law360, and others. Beyond my law career, I live to bike, play guitar, and watch my daughters dance with Texas Ballet Theater, jump horses, and root for the Hoosiers.
