About David Flegel

Currently, I work at CDC as an on-site, full-time editorial contractor with Northrop Grumman. I am the communications specialist for the branch responsible for the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), the largest public health telephone survey in the world that completes 450K interviews each year in order to gauge the chronic diseases, health-related behaviors, preventive practices, and health care access of US residents. I work with an international staff of epidemiologists, statisticians, and public health physicians to generate scientific articles, conference presentations, reports, and user-support documents associated with the annual data release. And I help promote the accomplishments of the staff through social media, webinars, fact sheets and newsletters. Before my years at BRFSS, I spent three years as a dissemination specialist in the Prevention Research Centers Program, where I wrote features and releases to promote the program as well as performed daily editorial tasks. Before CDC, I spent just short of 9 years at WebMD, where I was responsible for editorial/programming/relationship management. I was a founding member of WebMD's Programming Dept. and helped crank out newsletters, features, news stories, and alerts. Specialties: Newsletter editing and writing. Features.
