About David Flynn

From shipping boxes out of California to helping operators raise capital, I built my foundation in cannabis through real world experience, not a certification or second hand teaching. I started selling weed in high school so my friends and I could smoke for free. I never finished college and bounced around jobs all while supplementing my income selling weed. Things got serious when I got into music festivals and Grateful Dead scene. Through my connections, I met a big plug for concentrate in the area and started buying from him. I eventually went out to California for a “transformational” music festival and met my buddy who I went on to work with for a decade. He and I became partners in a black market extraction lab operating out of Humboldt Co. and later Nevada City. I oversaw East Coast distribution into Baltimore and beyond, managing product flow, logistics, and growth at scale. It was high pressure, high stakes, and high execution. That experience shaped how I build and operate. Lean, strategic, and built to move. Alongside distribution, I have stayed close to the plant. I grow, process, and produce solventless products including bubble hash, rosin, and edibles. My hands-on experience gives me a holistic understanding of the plant from cultivation and extraction to finished product. Outside of cannabis, with friends, I launched a hemp and bamboo clothing brand with national festival contracts, gaining firsthand experience in brand development and logistics. I later founded The Higher Collection, a high-end art and mineral gallery with a curated portfolio valued over $2 million. Each venture sharpened my instincts in sales, branding, and business development. As Managing Partner at Emerald Capital Group, I work directly with operators to craft investor-ready decks, raise capital, and navigate the realities of building in a volatile market. I understand what investors are looking for, but more importantly, I understand what it actually takes to run a cannabis business. As Director at KMG Advisors, I apply that same mindset across industries, leading client relationships and helping growth-stage businesses stay focused, fundable, and moving forward. I have operated on both sides of this industry, black market and legal. I built from the ground up, and now I help others do the same.
