About David Foran

Hello, I'm Dave. I am an engineer currently working Full Stack Engineering at 1792 Research. My background is in military logistics, from there I moved into the field of software engineering. My philosophy for designing / studying systems is based on the the field of cybernetics - the science of control and communication in animals and machines. Cybernetics provides a convenient way to model distributed systems with a variety of actors/agents. Organizational problems are people-centric, so I always start there and work outwards. This "aspect-oriented" perspective, analyzing the relations between various parts of the system, is my go to for problem solving. I love to work on teams big and small. In addition to my work, my academic research in partnership with Critica Research has been published by the peer-reviewed academic journal, Terrorism and Political Violence, as well as by the Global Network on Extremism and Technology at the King's College London.
