I retired from Microsoft in July 2023, and I am now amazed how I found time to work. I am currently enjoying a wide range of activities that retirement has opened up for me. Prior to retirement. I was an experienced Program / Solution Manager in Information Solutions with nearly 40 years’ experience in software product and application development. Starting as a mainframe software developer I have grown through multiple roles, technologies and business areas to be a successful Program and Solution Manager. The qualities that define how I operate in the role of Program Manager are:* Strong technical knowledge – In each role I both develop a strong technical grounding in the technology I currently am working, together with applying the knowledge I have gained in a number of business and technology areas.* Business and Technology Focus – One of my key skills is the ability to understand the business needs and drivers and connect these to the technology solutions. I am able to provide the bridge between business and technology teams * Excellent presentation and communication skills – I can communicate challenging issues to both the technical and business team, driving them to resolution whilst maintaining an excellent working relationship with both internal and external partners. I create effective presentations and documentation for the relevant audience.* Design and analysis excellence – One of my key strengths is to understand the underlying business needs and to drive to the correct, long term solutions for these needs. I also have strong troubleshooting skills that allow me to help guide the business and engineering teams in the resolution of issues.* Highly collaborative – I am a firm believer of a team based approach across all disciplines and that effective collaboration leads to the most effective solutions.* Delivering Under Pressure –Recent projects have been time and scope critical and resource constrained, with significant external pressures. I have worked with the project team to ensure we delivered the right solutions at the right time, supporting critical product releases.
