About David Galaty

David Galaty has 20 years of experience in international development, agricultural program design and adaptive management, monitoring and evaluation, strategic research and innovation with a strong emphasis on the use of data for strategic decision-making and resource allocation in development. Serving as Kenya Impact Lead at the Mastercard Foundation, Galaty has helped guide the strategic Foundation shift to systems change oriented programming, and design and implementation of innovative Kenya Country program measurement, learning and adaptive management systems.Prior to his work at the Foundation, Galaty served as Regional Director of Research and Innovation for TechnoServe’s East Africa Division where he led prioritization and testing of agricultural and measurement innovations and the modeling and evaluating public and private business cases for scale-up of innovations worth over $22 million/year. Previously, he served as Regional M&E Manager for TechnoServe’s East Africa Division, where he was responsible for leading M&E functions for a $20 million portfolio of varied programs and supervising M&E staff in several countries. Prior to his work with TechnoServe, he designed and executed assessments of the economics of HIV/AIDS and health service delivery systems in Ethiopia, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea and Zambia. Subsequently, Mr. Galaty served as the regional coordinator of the US government’s first ever cotton sector support program, served as Assistant Coordinator for USAID’s Initiative to End Hunger in Africa, playing an important role in setting up initiative monitoring and evaluation tools and systems at the National, Regional and Global/Initiative levels. Mr. Galaty has short-term experience in Australia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Finally, Mr. Galaty has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively in a multi-cultural setting
