About David Gallagher

Multi-talented CPA and translator who leverages his analytical and cultural skills to see the big picture and get things done. I am passionate about languages – I have learned two unrelated languages (Spanish and Kyrgyz) and am currently learning Mandarin Chinese. I have built on my language craft and qualitative analytical skills to enjoy a 20+ year career as a translator, government liaison, project manager and teacher. About a decade ago, as personal challenge to keep my career fresh, I went back to graduate school to study accounting and add quantitative and financial analytical skills to my tool bag. I found that years of proofreading language texts had given me a sharp eye for discrepancies which translated nicely to rooting out the causes of material errors that were buried in thousands of lines of accounting entries. I became the go to team member when the cause of a discrepancy could not be found after several days of digging. Additionally, my cultural and linguistic sensitivity has been a strength in accounting when nuanced customer service or grant reporting is required. I have demonstrated my integrity to work independently as a remote evaluator and translator for World Education Services since 2003. This 100% remote position has been an anchor for evenings and weekends of the last 16 years as a supplement to my daytime collaborative office endeavors in project management and accounting. I am currently looking for additional remote positions in translating and accounting that will allow me to continue to grow as a professional.
