About David Garces

I am currently in pursuit of a M.A in Higher Education and Student Affairs at the University of Connecticut. This advanced degree will equip me with the necessary knowledge to provide support to marginalized and underrepresented student populations. Through my work at the University of Connecticut's Hartford campus, I am dedicated to promoting exploration among undergraduate students. As an advisor, I equip students with tools, including Peoplesoft and The Major Experience (TME), to navigate their major exploration and university requirements. I educate students on exploration, networking, and career competencies through my First Year Experience course. At the Center for Career Readiness and LifeSkills, I have acquired career coaching expertise through training and co-facilitation of career appointments. These endeavors have equipped me with the knowledge to support students in become career ready. As a higher education scholar and practitioner, I value being a lifelong learner with confidence. I tailor each conversation with a student to promote self-reflection, exploration, and confident decision-making.
