About David Garrett

I have a very diverse background in the technologies industry. I began my career in 1993 building the wafer handlers and pick an place robots for Intel and Hewlett Packard. I am also self taught in the programming of programmable logic controllers, though I haven't worked with that technology since 1997. After leaving the controls industry, I moved into the world of A/V and automation. With 23 years of experience in the Audio/Visual field specializing in learning centers, conference rooms, and high-end automation, I am confident that the knowledge that I have acquired throughout my career make me ideally suited for a position within almost any organization. I have worked with, and helped design, cutting edge systems for some of the most demanding clients in the world. My most recent employer was Cine A/V. I was a lead technician on the team that helped with the University of Alberta’s new classroom infrastructure and learning environments. I specialized in system integration of conference rooms, smart classrooms, and teaching venues. At Cochran Electric I was responsible for the design, roll out, and implementation of Campus wide A/V solutions for Nike, Daimler Trucks North America, Coaxis, Cisco, and Autodesk. This included creation and execution of related training and technical manuals for all campus solutions. Due to my outstanding customer service and problem solving skills, I was entrusted with Cochran's most important clients. Further, during large scale projects, when organization and detailed work were essential, I was consistently asked to lead those jobs. In summation, within the technologies industry, I became known for going above and beyond in situations that may have not been clearly defined or known in terms of scope. Cochran relied on me to do trouble shooting and get to the bottom of any technical challenge. In addition, I have a good working knowledge of primary manufacturers such as Extron, Crestron, Clear One, Biamp, Polycom, and AMX. I will prove to be a reliable resource in almost any project. Prior to working for Cochran, I honed advanced wiring techniques as a Robotics and Controls Technician with MD Controls for 4 years, where I completed my Journeyman's training through Oregon and Washington. I have completed the Bachelor of Technology in Technology Management with honours at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
