About David Gerloff

Certified Police Officer in the State of Texas for over 19 years holding a Master Peace Officer certification TCOLE instructor, Field Training Officer, Mental Health Officer and Firearms Instructor. I completed the FBI-LEEDA trilogy leadership course in 2019 and believe leadership should be founded in servitude, with focuses on positive reinforcement and accountability. Previous patrol division first line supervisor. Maintained patrol division scheduling and reviewed daily work of assigned Officers. I also assisted with the digital technical needs arising with the department’s E-citation system and mobile/body camera video systems, including trouble shooting, account setup and correspondence with vendors. As a trained Police Background investigator, I have conducted numerous background investigations of applicants for Police service. During those investigations it was imperative that confidentiality and excellent communication skills were used. During the course of my career I have presented numerous public presentations. I have also created weekly/monthly/annual reports and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, web based applications and digital evidence recovery/documentation. Work experience as a personal protection officer for a privately held company. I am licensed by the Texas DPS with level 3/4 security licenses in addition to being licensed as a private investigator. I am currently employed by the Rockport Police Department as a Lieutenant in the Patrol Division. In addition to supervisory duties in my current employment I have worked as a solo patrol Officer, Detective and served as supervisor over CID for an extended period of time.
