About David Grant

I am a therapist within Ryther’s Outpatient Co-Occurring Disorders treatment program. I have served diverse groups and populations ranging from adolescents with severe behavior and psychiatric issues to geriatric individuals coping with loss of a loved one. I’ve had the opportunity to work as a grief support group facilitator and a crisis intervention specialist. In my work, I use a person-in-environment perspective to guide me in understanding the individuals I serve and the systems they interact with. My work focuses on promoting inherent strengths and empowering individuals to develop insight into the obstacles they face on a daily basis. I am guided by evidenced-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Theory, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My approach to recovery is eclectic and factors in foundational knowledge from 12 Step programs, SMART recovery, and Al-Anon support groups. I maintain a culturally sensitive clinical environment designed to promote safety while also encouraging free expression of one’s identity.
