About David Graves

I started my career as an auditor auditing school districts. Eventually, I chose to work in the school district/charter school industry in California as a chief business officer because I care about the conditions of learning for students. By helping to maximize resources, students can obtain an appropriate learning environment with the best teachers, technology and materials. I have worked with many wonderful people in the education sector who share these beliefs and enjoy working with teams to optimize the conditions of learning for students. Santa Rosa Academy was in a shopping mall when I started there and working with the founders and other team players, we were able to finance the construction of a beautiful $35 million dollar facility in the hub of the City of Menifee, California. Most importantly, each year the academic performance of the students was increasing and surpassing state and local charter schools and school districts. All 4 of my children attended the school and have received a wonderful education. As an auditor, chief business officer, and a FMCAT CBO Mentor Program graduate, I have obtained knowledge and skills in areas such as cash flow management, budgeting, reporting, state and federal compliance requirements, grant financial and accounting support, thorough understanding of the California School Accounting Manual, child nutrition program, transportation, facilities, risk management, human resources, etc. I also prepare taxes and handle bookkeeping and payroll services. When I worked at Nigro and Nigro, PC, I would audit during audit season and prepare taxes during tax season. When I went to work as a CBO, I continued preparing taxes as a side business. I've been doing this since 2006.
