Currently Global Technical Director with Land O’ Lakes Venture37 programme, Dai has over 30 years’ experience across numerous market systems and countries in Africa and globally, working with both private sector and development sector actors. Much of this work has focused on integrating smallholder dairy farmers into market systems, with much of the work at national level. Dai has extensive experience in the agricultural sectors across Eastern and South Africa, including South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi. Mozambique, Rwanda, Burundi, Angola, Tanzania, Kenya, and Ethiopia. Key Qualifications KEY SKILLS • Marketing and Market Development - Substantial experience within many African markets. Identification, of opportunities, segmentation, and strategies to further the development of the private sector of all scales, building capacity and sustainability. • Agricultural Business Development - Analysis of investment opportunities, value chains, and their actors. Identifying market imperfections and formulating mechanisms to improve their competitiveness and returns on investment. • Livestock and Agricultural Development - Over 25 years’ experience within various agricultural value chains (dairy, livestock and cropping) in less developed economies. KEY ACHIEVEMENTS • Management and Skills Transfer - Successful leadership as Country Manager/Chief of Party and Regional Director of culturally diverse country teams. Proven ability to mobilize, manage and deliver targeted results in challenging situations. Recognized as Land O'Lakes International Development Manager of the Year 2011. • New Business Development - Highly effective at identifying opportunities, developing documentation and securing investments within less developed economies. • Business Sustainability - Experienced at successfully implementing programs to assist the private sector of all scales to improve their analysis, and planning. This results in decreased production costs, improved returns and achieve business goals.
