About David Hepp

Materials scientist with extensive laboratory and electron microscopy experience. Six years working in the electronics industry before relocating to Salt Lake City, Utah. My passion for electron microscopy began while studying Glass Engineering Science the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. The small size of Alfred’s program allowed for hands-on opportunities to learn microscopy techniques during my undergraduate studies. I have worked to continue to gain experience with microscopes in the time since then. I spent six years working for KEMET Electronics in their Microscopy and Failure Analysis Lab. I gained extensive experience using the lab’s scanning electron microscope almost daily. I regularly analyzed production samples and supplier material for tantalum capacitors to assist KEMET process engineers and the manufacturing process. and completed failure analysis on tantalum capacitors that came from both production testing and those returned from external customers.
