About David Heredia

I worked at Miami-Dade County Public Schools as a teacher and later as a reading curriculum specialist. For the past eleven years, I have been working for Miami Dade College as a reading, student life skills, School of Education and English professor. I work with administrators, student services, and faculty pertaining to various strategic interventions that are geared toward improving student success. I have played an active role in many Miami Dade College achievement initiatives, resulting in significant and sustained efforts that have positively impacted students across the institution. Much of my work consisted of redesigning writing and reading classrooms by incorporating the flipped instructional approach by leveraging technology with infused best practices to ensure optimal learning. Through these efforts, I substantially redesigned academic programs to meet the ever changing needs of the growing diverse student demographic. Beyond working with my own discipline, I interact with colleagues from various disciplines across the college to provide a rich, deep context to further understand the overall student experience. I am staunch advocate for higher education by attending and presenting at various national conferences. Above all, I value the importance in preparing students, elucidated best practices, and enhanced strategies that foster and promote student success.
