About David Herr

I just started as an IS Analyst at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. I have a lot to learn, but I will have a good mentor. I am looking looking forward to growing with this organization. Beyond that, I have served in the Army National Guard for 17 years. I'm a "Commo Guy". If it talks to something else, I fix it. The non-military folk can think of me as a radio and computer nerd. This aspect of my life has always been my own private little hobby. When I wasn't working on Commo stuff on the job, I have been at home doing my own tinkering and learning. Now is the time to make this "hobby" my career.I am a generalist rather than a specialist. Radios, computers, GPS, VoIP phones, switches, routers, and plenty of other things. My primary goal in the Army has always been "Can I make my equipment talk?" Once something starts talking, you don't touch it again. You try to improve it if you can, but if improvement isn't obvious you leave it. This approach has certainly left me with some missing knowledge, however I know enough to find the missing knowledge. I am currently filling in some of the gaps. Goals for 2023:1. Get a CompTIA A+ Certification (In Process)2. Get a CompTIA Network+ Certification3. Get a CompTIA SEC+ Certification2024Complete the Bachelors Degree I started many many years ago.
