About David Hills

As can be seen from my listed college, I was a musician in my earlier life; prior to joining the Met in 1978, was the principal french horn of the BBC Northern Radio Orchestra based in Manchester from 1974 - 1977. Returned to London and played primarily with the Philharmonia Orchestra and various other London Orchestras and ensembles. Suffered burn out at the ripe old age of 23 and joined the Met. Had a fantastic time in London primarily as a 'career detective'( dying breed the CID as I knew it) and I'm still going strong in Sussex. Love the sea, my Labrador Milly, birds, walking, fishing and all things outdoors and of course, music. Didn't play for 31 years but took up the horn again 12 years ago and am back to a 'reasonable' standard. Play in gigs around the South East, primarily Sussex Symphony Orchestra, Sussex Concert Orchestra, Hastings Sinfonia, and others. And for those who know me, yes I am still partial to a little drink! Covid put paid to live music between March 2020 and May 2021 but as we 'unlocked' and restrictions eased, the diary started to fill once again and now we're off and running.
