I initially didn't do anything with my 2013 life, accident, and health insurance license. I started my career in furniture sales management. After honing and proving my own selling aptitude, I assumed a role as onboarding support and primary new hire trainer.A troubling realization was that new hires of all socio-economic backgrounds had little knowledge of health insurance and other benefits - neither what to enroll in, nor how to actually use their coverage.After hitting a ceiling in retail, I went to solve the enrollment problem at Benefitfocus. I started as an SDR outbounding prospects to set sales meetings for new-business AEs, and then gained a promotion to the AM team after 15 months. As a Client Executive (account manager), I consulted with an average of 50-60 clients (mostly lives) and their brokers to ensure satisfaction, negotiate contract renewals, and place both professional and software services that solved administration/enrollment/communication problems and aligned with strategy.After 4.5 amazing years in that role, logging even more hours/day than working in commission retail, I took 3 months off to spend time with my newborn son and wife. My family is incredibly important to me, but I hadn't been living that out with the long hours.After that break, I became a full-cycle sales executive at a startup focused on helping employees care for elderly loved ones through tech enablement and expert guidance, selling it to large employers as an employee benefit. My wife and I had just spent several years prior caring in several capacities for her father, who was diagnosed and later died with dementia. The company and role were wonderful, but I kept hearing an all-too-familiar question from every prospect:"Seems like a great benefit. How do you actually get them to use it?"I had already run into the engagement and utilization problems at every other stop, and I felt compelled to go tackle it.So, I joined Medefy Health as a full-cycle sales executive. I'm pleased to partner with benefits advisors serving mid-large employers in my home state of SC + Georgia + around the country as needed. Together, we're demolishing barriers (knowledge, access, and especially cost) between healthcare and the people who need it.Personally, I'm incredibly passionate about personal finances, and a career in employee benefits - a HUGE link between personal and corporate finances - has allowed me to positively influence the lives of probably hundreds of thousands at this point.I'm always open to discuss anything with no obligation.
