An award-winning CEO, Senior Civil Servant and City-trained solicitor with a 32 year career spanning the private, public and voluntary sectors. Over 17 years’ experience as a CEO with a reputation for innovation and organisational transformation. Former Chief Officer, Children’s Services in local government. Particular expertise in the development and provision of services for disadvantaged children and families. David has been an adviser on services to children and families to the Local Government Association and the former Children’s Commissioner for England. He has been a member of many national policy reviews and the Chair of two high profile policy coalitions (Alliance for Children in Care and the End Child Poverty Coalition) and is currently a member of the Cross Government Advisory Group on Family Policy and a Trustee of the Westminster Foundation. His governance/NED experience includes roles as Chair/Trustee of five charities, as the Chair of a Governance Committee and as an Outcomes Investment Committee Member at Big Issue Invest. He was made CBE for Services to Children and Families in 2013 and won CEO of the Year at the HR Distinction Awards 2016. His current organisation, Family Action, has featured in the Sunday Times Top 100 List for the past four years, won UK Charity of the Year 2021 (Third Sector Awards) and is recognised for its world-class employee engagement.
