Internationally recognised in Alzheimer’s disease research with extensive publication profile including external invited presentations. Internally, senior level presentations to Scientific Advisory and Global Safety Boards; representation of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) at meetings with European Patent Office, Swedish Medical Products Agency and Due Diligence initiatives. Excellent team skills with vital decision-making contributions to a number of programmes. First-rate student supervisory experience with many (>10) successful projects completed. Contributions to GSK (and former SmithKline Beecham) R&D have been recognised by numerous awards. Ten years post-retirement spent at the Wolfson Centre for Age-Related Diseases, King's College London providing expertise in dementia neuropathology to numerous research projects. Supervision and tutoring of students at all levels including final year B.Sc, intercollated year, PhD, post-doctoral et seq. Collaborations and publications with many external groups. Specialties: Extensive experience in all aspects of amyloid beta-protein biochemistry and immunochemistry. Immunohistochemical expertise, including image analysis, directed towards pathology of Alzheimer's and other dementias in post-mortem human brain APP transgenic mouse development, characterisation and application to drug discovery initiatives. Transfer of mice to external third parties Technical input into European Patent oppositions Input into due diligence and in-licensing opportunities Externally, grant reviewer for award governing bodies Extensive publication record; reviewer for many scientific journals. As of 2025, I am now fully, fully retired.
