About David Hsieh

David is a researcher whose passion for improving therapies available to patients has carried him into new fields several times. This passion was sparked at UCSF, where working in small molecule-based cancer research put him in close proximity to the targeted therapeutics that showed promise but did not necessarily change overall survival of patients. From there, he trained at UCLA in biochemistry and molecular biology, before deciding that working in the biopharma industry would put him closest to the work of advancing therapeutics. He went to Gilead Sciences, where he was privileged enough learn from the teams behind world-class success in antiviral therapies. He is now at Ambys Medicines, where he contributes to gene therapy and cell therapy projects for liver disease. He is learning from the scientific pioneers that direct those programs, as well as the leaders whose expertise and vision has guided an ambitious start-up from inception.
