About David Ifkovits

David is currently in his 30th year as Director of Choral Activities and Chairman of the Music Department at Archmere Academy, a private, Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory high school in Claymont, Delaware. He recently assumed the post of Director of Music at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Wilmington, Delaware after 21 years as the Director of Music and Worship at Church of the Holy Child in Wilmington, Delaware. David is a past conductor of the Diocesan Choir of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, Delaware. He is also an accomplished vocalist and organist, who has performed throughout the Northeastern United States. David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Voice from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut, where he studied with James Jordan, Gerald Mack, and Pamela Perry. Under David’s direction the Mastersingers of Archmere Academy performed extensively throughout the state of Delaware, having performed numerous times for the Governor and other state officials. Since the Mastersingers have consistently placed in the top 5 choirs in the United States at competitions in Toronto, San Francisco, Orlando, New York and Chicago. In April of 2002, the Mastersingers were invited to perform for high Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Italy, and had the honor of performing for Pope John Paul II. In April of 2006 they returned to Rome where they had the opportunity to sing the high Mass at St. Peter’s to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone and to perform for Pope Benedict XVI as well as the United States Ambassador to Vatican City. April 2013 the Mastersingers made their Carnegie Hall Debut and returned on March 15, 2015 for another solo concert.
