About David Irving

Professional Software Engineer with over two decades of writing clean, performance driven, web and server applications. Working as a full-stack Developer, I have worked on large scale information systems that are actively used by higher education institutions as well as private companies with tens of thousands users utilizing them on a daily basis. I enjoy using a variety of languages, frameworks, and tool-sets so that I have a tool that best fits the current task. I work daily with languages like PHP, JavaScript, and SQL and utilize both custom frameworks and open source frameworks like Zend, CodeIgniter, and Yii. When I’m not programming, I have experience managing teams of Developers as well as the infrastructure that our software lives on. Whether it be load balancing web nodes using reverse proxies or managing a MariaDB Galera cluster, I find configuring and tweaking the systems the software operates on for ultimate performance to be very satisfying. Specialties: PHP, MariaDB, Javascript, ExtJS, Jquery, AJAX, Sphinx, JIRA, Git, Linux, C, C#, Zend In my free time, I enjoy working on technology projects that may have a positive impact on the company. I’ve written ExtendScript plugins for Adobe products to detect languages in Illustrator files, desktop applications in Objective C that interact with our hosted web solutions to provide our users an integrated experience, and C# plugins for Microsoft Office to pull information in from our hosted solutions to provide a better reporting experience with much less “wait-time”. Personal interests include the collection and restoration of classic arcade machines and gaming consoles. I also enjoy small engine repair, working on the house, and spending as much time with my family as I can.
