About David Jensen

My career in the arts began early - I was fortunate enough to spend my childhood in classical music, playing viola and piano in a variety of ensembles throughout my public schooling before going on to receive a Bachelor of Music degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. During my undergraduate years, I studied harmony, ear training, musicology, philosophy, and literature, serving as principal violist for the college’s top symphonic ensemble while simultaneously performing as a section violist for the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony. I subsequently attended UW-Madison, where I studied music history at the graduate level, working as a teaching assistant while assisting patrons both in the Mead-Witter School of Music orchestra library as well as Mills Music Library. I currently serve as the Communications Coordinator for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, overseeing the compilation and production of our Encore playbills, coordinating, building, and sending digital campaigns and external communications, and proofreading and copy editing all collateral and institutional materials. I also manage our institutional archive, which includes ongoing preservation and digitization work, the execution of interdepartmental and community project requests, the development and presentation of historical lectures, and the maintenance of a digital catalog of our physical holdings. On the weekends, you can usually find me in Allen-Bradley Hall, enjoying what was described in the New Yorker in 1972 as “one of America's great virtuoso orchestras — as beautifully trained and subtly coordinated as the finest in the land.”
