About David Kalian

Thrilled to have been working the last 3 years with my old crew (ok I'm the old part of the crew) in ES on their revolutionary communications technology. Other Experience Summary: Hired into Hughes Aircraft Radar Systems, Advanced Programs Div 2/7/80, transferred to Space and Communications in 1990 (subsequently bought by Boeing in 2001). I hold 4 patents, masters in communications systems from USC, and in 2002 became a Boeing Technical Fellow. I have a breadth of experience in RF, digital space system technologies and optical systems. I also have significant experience leading teams through the non-reoccurring phases of hardware design, build and test from the unit level thru spacecraft integration. This includes direct program management experience, laying out a program plan, resource loaded IMS, and EVM system. I have managed major subcontracts and participated in IBRs and JSRs. Additionally, I have led front end business development, creating market shaping strategies and customer engagement plans, and have led large teams in all phases of capture campaigns from early competitive/bid-no-bid assessments thru dissecting RFPs and generating compliant proposals with strong competitive themes. I have held the following positions: 1. 6/2014: Chief engineer for one of our National Systems Programs 2. 12/2012: Engineering manager of a major technology upgrade to a primary system element within a proprietary program. Worked with system integrators as well as directed major primes. 6/2010: Director of Mission Assurance for the Experimental Space Group, reporting to S & IS VP of Mission Assurance. 8/2010: Day of Launch Director for SBSS launch 9/2010 5. 10/2009: Capture Team Lead for Space Based Surveillance System (SBSS) FO 6. 5/2006: SBSS Deputy Program Manager responsible for on site management of the build of the optical payload and satellite at Ball Aerospace, Boulder Co. 6/2002: Chief Engineer Active Array Antenna Technologies, Antenna and Payload Products Group, Boeing El Segundo Satellite Factory. 9/1996 Chief Communications SE and Technology IR & D lead, proprietary and NSP studies
