About David Katamba

I am an Associate Professor of Corporate Sustainability and Social Responsibility (CSR) and a World Bank Institute trained professional with over 13 years’ experience in sustainable development. In 2009, I initiated and led the consultative process that established the United Nations (UN) Global Compact Network in Uganda, which is currently hosted by Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE). To support private sector development, global agribusiness, Food & Nutritional Security, I implemented a project AGRI-QUEST, accessible on: https://knowledge4food.net/research-project/arf2-agri-quest-uganda/ I am a certified CSR Advisor and trainer for International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF), and Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). Additionally, for 6½ years until 2018, I Chaired, Sales, Social, & Marketing Compliance Committee (SMCC) of Nile Breweries Ltd (a subsidiary of AB InBev, Belgium). I have consulted for ‘UN Women’ on issues of Gender and Women empowerment in Uganda; consulted for government of Uganda on issues of trade facilitation, education, and sustainability. I have also consulted for Netherlands Embassy in Uganda on issues of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Risks and Opportunities in Uganda, see: United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on issues of public health and private sector involvement; European Commission on projects and research management as well as World Bank, German International Cooperation (GIZ), and International Organization for Standardization (ISO pilot project). I have authored and contributed to several books. Notably, World Guide to CSR: A Country by Country Analysis of Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility; World Guide to Sustainable Enterprises. I have won several international research grants including from Netherlands’ NWO WOTRO. I am the Chairman of the Uganda Chapter for Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives (UCCSRI). I have been (and I am still) a peer reviewer of proposals, grant applications, publications for several academic journals, and projects for several development organizations including for European Commission’s EACEA. I have delivered services and implemented projects in Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Turkey, Italy, India, and East Africa
