I believe that we shouldn't be satisfied with the status quo. The idea that doctors are forced to tell new parents that there isn't a treatment option for their child, or the only option is going to massively disrupt everything for the lifetime of their child is heartbreaking and offensive. We can, and must, do better to give hope to those who simply had the unlucky chance to be born with a negative genetic condition. To give up on them is simply too sad for words. With my nearly 20 years of experience and work with cell based therapies, I believe that we will find ways to create hope where none exists. I want to see a world where children are able to live up to their potential unburdened by the genetic disease they were born with.
