About David Kodua

My interests are in Energy Management, Environmental Accounting, Public Finance, Gender, Climate Change, and Poverty Reduction. As a potential development economist, I have worked with the apex planning and policy-making institution (National Development Planning Commission). Over a period of 3 years, I have contributed to the strategies to tackle climate issues, rural poverty, and environmental safety in the Medium Term Development Policy Framework and also helped to develop national documents such as the New Urban Agenda, Annual Progress Report, and Public Policy Guidelines. I have a background in economics and geography of resource and development with specialization in public finance, agricultural economics, rural development, and spatial planning. This has equipped me with the needed knowledge to be able to effectively contribute to development priorities in the country and abroad. With a passion for contributing to international peace and development, I have volunteered with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as an economic modeling support officer. This internship was focused on gender equity analysis of alcohol consumption in Sri Lanka. During this period, I acquired data analysis and other research skills. My passion is to work for private and public organizations focused on climate financing, gender equity, environmental accounting, and poverty reduction in line with the SDGs.
