Five decades and still going strong - practicing every aspect of bankruptcy law, representing people in all walks of life, small and midsize businesses, I provide financial relief and rehabilitation. I have helped innumerable people and businesses recover from financial hardship. In doing so, I contribute to "healing the world", one client at a time. I am recognized nationally as an authority in consumer bankruptcy law, by “Super Lawyers”, “Best Lawyers”, “Leading Lawyers” and even as one of the “Law Dragon 500” in the US. I serve primarily debtors in the Chicago Metropolitan Area & beyond. I have practiced in large, medium and boutique law firms - consumer, business, banking, real estate, representing debtors, creditors, committees, assignees for the benefit of creditors, real estate developers. at trial, appellate level, and the Illinois Supreme Court and the US Supreme Court. As one of the most respected bankruptcy trustees for 33 years, I have practical understanding of human nature. I know the players’ mindsets AND their playbooks too. Even though I charge premium rates, I don’t need a lot of hours to get the job done, so my clients get value, and often save unnecessary legal fees. With the highest level of integrity, I deliver excellence. I fearlessly fight for each client. By treating little matters as if they are the most important in the world, I’ve earned respect from clients, opposing parties, and judges. I am a straight shooter. I collaborate with, and refer to fellow bankruptcy lawyers, when their resources are too big, too small, in conflict, or outside their bandwidth. I work with many other types of lawyers such as divorce attorneys, estate planning lawyers, mortgage foreclosures defense attorneys, and other specialties. I also network and refer to business restructuring firms and turnaround consultants, mortgage loan brokers, mortgage bankers, real estate brokers, bankers, CPAs, financial planners, and other professionals. In addition to private law practice, I have served in leadership roles, such as- Founder, Co-chair for the past 2 years of CPEX - the “American Bankruptcy Institute’s Consumer Practice Extravaganza” - the largest consumer bankruptcy conference in the US- Led the establishment of Mongolia’s bankruptcy system; leading a team of judges and lawyers training Mongolia’s judges, lawyers, accountants and economists- Board of Directors of both the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
