About David Leinweber

David Leinweber, author of "Nerds on Wall Street: Math, Machines and Wired Markets", was one of the first people on the Internet as an MIT student back in 1972 when it was called the ARPAnet, and wasn’t cool. He worked at the MIT Artificial Intelligence laboratory, both as an undergraduate and for his Ph.D. thesis work at Harvard. At the RAND Corporation, and as the founder of two AI-based financial technology companies, and as a quantitative investment manager he has been a pioneering participant in the use of Artificial Intelligence. He was co-founder of Integrated Analytics Corporation, acquired by the Investment Technology Group,(NYSE:ITG). As Managing Director at First Quadrant, he was responsible for quantitative global equity portfolios totaling $6 billion. Advanced Trading magazine named him an "Innovator of the Decade" in 2010. As a visiting faculty member at Caltech and UC Berkeley, and at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, he worked on practical applications of ideas at the juncture of technology and finance.
