About David Loewenstein

I am the Director for the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience and Aging (CNSA) and a board-certified neuropsychologist. I have served and continue to serve as Principal Investigator on a number of NIH studies investigating and developing novel cognitive and functional measures for the early detection of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other cognitive disorders of aging, cross-cultural assessment, and intervention studies involving the effects of cognition and exercise in older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). I am widely published in normal aging,the identification of early stage MCI through novel cogniive challenge tests and its relationships to biomarker data such as amyloid and tau PET scans, MRI, fMRI and DTI. I am Associate Director for the 1Florida, Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) and Lead the Clinical Core site at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. I previously served as Director of Research for the Wien Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Disorders at Mount Sinai Medical Center and currently am Principal investigator large NIH longitudinal studies on novel cognitive and physiological brain-based biomarkers for MCI and early Alzheimer’s Disease and Alzheimer and Related Disorders. Our group has become increasingly involved in state of the art plasma biomarkers of AD and neurodegeneration and have an accredited post-doctoral training program in Clinical Neuropsychology for over 25 years training one to three post-doctoral fellows per year.and supervise 8 PhD graduate students per year as well as involved in MD residency and post-doctoral training.
