About David Longman

I am a versatile Mechanical Design Engineer with 20+ years of experience with Boeing, General Dynamics, Hawker Beechcraft and Airbus. For nine years, I served as a lead engineer for the Hawker Beechcraft empennage and portions of the Boeing Rolls Royce engine nacelle, taking each design from concept to production. In addition, I have expertise in fuselage structure, doors, door surround structure, door closure systems, machined and sheet metal parts, large assemblies, composites, linkages, injection molded plastic and preliminary structural analysis. I have extensive experience using CATIA V4 and CATIA V5 as well as experience with ENOVIA VPM, tolerance analysis and GD & T. Most recently I served as a repair engineer at Airbus, developing drawings and procedures for removal and replacement of damaged components. Prior to that I was responsible for the detail design of the composite door surround – a successful weight saving innovation for Airbus. There’s nothing like starting a new project from scratch and developing it all the way through to production, experiencing every aspect of the design process, from layout through detail design and analysis. I especially enjoy a mix of design work, coordinating with supporting groups and managing a small group of designers. I have a BSME from Bradley University and a MSME from Wichita State University.
