About David MacIas

David Macias Jr. is currently working as a Project Engineer at Garver within its West Texas - El Paso Office Water Team. Mr. Macias’ engineering experience includes the design and management of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including waterlines, sanitary sewer lines, pump stations, lift stations, and wastewater treatment plants. Mr. Macias has received his Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification and is currently pursuing his Professional Engineering (PE) license in the State of Texas. Mr. Macias has received a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). While at UTEP, Mr. Macias was an undergraduate student research assistant focusing on research projects related to environmental science, specifically water treatment and conservation. Specific research projects include using unmanned aerial systems (UASs) with spectral sensors and geographic information system (GIS) software for environmental monitoring of vegetation and evaluating the effectiveness of using phytoremediation to remediate harmful algal blooms. Along with research experience, Mr. Macias has also received entrepreneurship experience by participating as an Entrepreneur Lead for a regional and national I-Corps team during the Summer 2019 and Winter 2020 cohorts, respectively. As part of I-Corps, Mr. Macias and his team would receive grant funding to develop a startup business. Mr. Macias is a passionate young engineer who advocates for community development through water, wastewater, and environmental infrastructure. His value stems from his experience in undergraduate research and engineering consulting. Mr. Macias promotes projects that are feasible, safe, and cost-effective.
