About David Mata

With over 30 years of industrial construction experience, I am a Lead Nuclear Auditor at Kiewit, one of the largest and most respected construction and engineering organizations in North America. I've held a Top Secret Clearance, a current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential, and a Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification, which enable me to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality in complex and sensitive projects world wide. My core competencies include performing internal and external audits of departments and vendors involved in nuclear safety, preparing and reviewing audit documents, checklists, agendas, and reports, and performing surveillance, assessment, and other assignments as directed. I also have a deep understanding of various codes and standards, such as ASME, AWS, API, NBIC, ACI, ASTM, ASNT, ISO, NQA-1 and AS/NZS, and I have hands-on welding experience in various techniques and metals. I have been responsible for qualifying and writing welding procedures and welder qualifications, as well as obtaining and maintaining ASME Code certifications for organizations. Additionally, I have extensive international experience, having worked in several foreign countries, such as Nigeria, Netherlands, China, Japan, Suriname, Australia, Canada, Chile, Perú, Argentina, and Brazil, where I have adapted to different cultures, regulations, and environments. I have also held various positions, such as Vendor Surveillance Inspector, Civil Inspector, Lab Supervisor, ACI Concrete Inspector, Quality Control Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, CWE Certified Welding Educator, and Sr. Director of Quality. I am passionate about delivering excellence, innovation, and value in the nuclear industry, and I am committed to continuous learning and improvement.
