About David Matthew

David Matthew has nearly 35 years of public sector experience; he has distinguished himself as one actively influencing public safety organizations and public service across America. His work history includes Transitional Fire Chief for the Brandon Fire Department (MS), Deputy Chief of Operations for the South San Francisco Fire Department (CA) and as a Division Chief for the Sedgwick County Fire Department (KS). Coordinating a network of fire service leaders, Matthew has produced a process that is being used to transform local fire departments. This process has proven effective and recognized at national conferences such as the CPSE Excellence Conference and Fire Rescue International (2018/2019). He is currently offering interim Fire Chief services to organizations utilizing a select network of public safety professionals. Matthew has delivered TEDx style presentations at the Executive Fire Officer (EFO) Symposiums at the National Fire Academy (NFA) and remains an active presenter at conferences nationwide. In addition, he serves as a subject matter expert for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Fire Administration (USFA), and the National Fire Academy developing courses including the Advanced Science to HazMat/WMD Response and Emergency Response to Terrorism courses in 2018. His widespread work continues to positively influence public safety organizations through interacting with unique workforces and greater communities partners to advance public sector organizations.
