About David McClelland

In my career I have developed a thorough understanding of requirements for the design, planning, and delivery of complex projects as part of a culturally diverse project and design management teams. I have managed the delivery of overlay event works with a team of senior project managers, department leads, contractors, engineers, colleagues, councils, stadium authorities and emergency services. This included the capturing of requirements from various departments to develop design briefs, create work breakdown structures, procure small works packages, and develop project plans for bump-in/bump-out. In doing so I have produced descriptions of works, estimations, sketch designs, project plans, progress reports, presentations, and on-site inspections so that all risks were identified, monitored, and controlled. In the delivery of these works I have managed the installation and removal of several construction works packages including temporary power, toilets, rigging, tents, cabins, gantry’s, partitioning, flooring, camera platforms, security fencing, audiovisual and information technology. Resulting in the timely delivery of fields of play, broadcast compounds, power compounds, logistic compounds, food and beverage stalls, fan activation centres, media centres, accreditation centres, cafes, workforce catering kitchens and security infrastructure.Through my abilities for consultation and cooperation with colleagues, departments, councils, engineers, contractors, government agencies and relevant stakeholders, I can develop project scopes, stakeholder engagement plans, produce detailed documentation, design options, zoning, master planning, construction details, wayfinding maps and visualizations to meet relevant design and construction standards. Including the co-ordination of contractors and works, so that all procurement construction deliverables are carried out safely, as per scope, programme, and budget. In doing so I have gained a high level of expertise in the use of design and project management software programs to assist in the tracking and control of documentation, requirements, issues, and milestones. Such as, but not limited to Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Adobe, Smartsheet, Project and MS Office suites. This has been facilitated by a tertiary education in building design, architecture, and project management.From design briefs to final project reports I have discovered that polite, clear, concise communication with all who take part, is the key to developing strong working relationships that lead to achieving desired goals.
