The Professional bit: I’m an experienced executive Director at company and group level with many years of success in leadership, people development and coaching, sales growth and channel development, marketing (digital and traditional), system and process mapping (consistency and efficiency), transformation and change management. My experience has mostly been in manufacturing companies covering multiple sectors including Medical Diagnostics, Life Sciences, Construction, Fibreglass/GRP Applications and for the last two years within a service-based business in the technology sector (Digital Marketing and Website Development). I’m passionate about Mission, Vision and Values and Sustainability – as ultimately this is where success is born, and without clarity or conviction, why failure happens. People/Planet/Profit. The Personal bit: I’m northern, I’m ginger (well, what’s left is) and wear glasses. As you can imagine I’ve been called most names over the years, mostly in jest, but this has made me resilient. My wife and I have 5 daughters which has made me patient, tolerant and a bank manager/taxi driver/teacher/cook/cleaner/life coach/repairman (amongst other things). This means I’m versatile and skilled across multiple disciplines. I love watching football and playing games with my children – including both digital (Xbox) and traditional board games such as Trivial Pursuit, Cluedo, Scrabble. This is because I’m competitive and like to be stimulated and challenged – values which matter to me – it’s what defines who we are and how we act (and why!). I’m passionate about cooking and dabbling with all types of interesting and flavoursome world foods, which is surprising giving my modest northern upbringing on turkey drummers and fish fingers (or perhaps explains it). I’m not scared of trying new things, and persevering when it doesn’t go to plan. I love Excel – no really – it’s one of the most powerful tools that is widely mis-understood. Yes, it can seem like witchcraft, and has an unfathomable amount of features and functions. But to me, a logical and analytical person, it’s as close to digital heaven as possible (and I once created a filterable DVD library to help us choose films for our family film night but my wife called me ‘sad’). This indicates that I’m a process-driven problem-solver. I consider myself a ‘people person’; an intelligent, outgoing, extrovert, emotionally-conscious individual that seamlessly combines analytical-expressive character traits to develop fantastic relationships with [almost] everyone. Adapt, improvise, overcome.
