To date, my professional journey took me through the exciting depths of basic research, taught me the art of clinical research, lead the way into state of the art medical practice, made me understand and embrace the value of strong communication- and soft-skills, provided me with economic awareness and lead me to realize that the greatest of things happen when great minds from different backgrounds join efforts. To transform healthcare and maximize the patient´s benefit, all available resources and technologies should be part of an integrative approach. As a biochemist and MD specializing in ophthalmology, I see artificial intelligence and especially machine learning as the most valuable tools at hand to enable truly personalized medicine and efficient preventive measures. Let´s share visions and ideas, agree and disagree, work hard and provide solutions for future challenges.
