About David Michael

I'm an enthusiastic, team-oriented software engineer who speaks C++ fluently. I strive to make everybody around me more effective so we can build great products together. I began writing software as a hobby in high school when I discovered QBasic on my 486 running DOS 5.0. After graduating in 2001 from Denison University with a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics, I went to work at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. I worked on a large software team for about 9 years there, and learned a great deal about the discipline and the art of software engineering. I spent about a year at Cornell University getting my master's degree in C.S. There, I expanded my knowledge of algorithm design and machine learning. In July 2010, I left Sandia to pursue a new opportunity as a Software Engineer for Google in Boulder, Colorado. I have the pleasure of working with some of the best Software Engineers in the world. For five years I worked on Chrome team, helping to make plugins more secure for users and web applications faster. Since then, I've been working in Geo to help make our maps complete, detailed, and fresh using machine learning.
