I am an Associate Dean in the Seaver College of Science & Engineering at Loyola Marymount University. In this role, I focus on undergraduate programs, student success, student advising, first year programs, and health professions preparation.I am a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and served as the chairperson for four years at LMU.My research program focuses on amyloid proteins and their role in disease. Along with my collaborators and phenomenal students, we have been awarded four R15 AREA grants from the NIH. Very recently we have been granted patents in several countries for our engineered peptides that inhibit the amyloidogenicity and toxicity of human Islet Amyloid Polypeptide.I have served on the LMU Board of Trustees Finance committee, the University Honor’s program, and was the chairperson for the University’s Institutional Review Board for seven years.
