About David Mok

I am a Teacher currently teaching Grade 5 at Mulgrave School in West Vancouver, Canada. I am an IB (International Baccalaureate) trained teacher in British Columbia, having completed an IB Certificate of Teaching and Learning and a Bachelor of Education at the University of British Columbia (UBC). My teaching experience includes my practicum at Capilano Elementary School in North Vancouver, teaching as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for the Department of Sociology at UBC, where I was a teaching assistant for over 400 university students, and as an Assistant Language Teacher through the JET Program(me) in Ichinomiya Town, host town of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Surfing Competition. In Japan, I taught English to over 700 Japanese elementary school students from 2019 to 2021, completed my TESL certification, and taught ESL to adult learners for the town's Board of Education from 2020 to 2021. I am passionate about inquiry-based learning and strongly believe in each student's potential and capability to succeed. I also embrace a teacher's responsibility towards truth and reconciliation and am constantly learning to incorporate Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing into my own teaching practice in authentic and respectful ways. I also have a passion for working with those from different cultures and backgrounds, and have a demonstrated history of international cooperation.
