I've updated my profile to show that even though it's been over a year since I've started with UMR, they are continuing to honor my previous 28 years of service with POMCO, and even my new supervisor, wished me a happy work anniversary! After 16 years, I am no longer scanning any kind of claims/documents. So now, I'm starting year 29, and I am now processing hospital UB claims full time! I also have studied during my time, the Medicare insurance system. What I've enjoyed about my current job, is having to figure out why this particular hospital claim didn't automatically adjudicate, once the claim was scanned into the system. And it could be one or more factors, like wrong DX codes, wrong dates of service entered, not the right patient, etc. At times, I would have to re-scan and re enter a claim manually with a new claim number in order to make sure that it was done correctly. The biggest satisfaction that I get, is when I figured out what went wrong, make the right corrections, then send that claim on its' way to finish processing, so that patient isn't waiting a long time to see if the claim was processed or not. I'll never know how many people, whose claims were stuck in the process, I've helped because I came in and corrected the problems;but it's a good feeling to know that once that claim that I fixed is done, that someone will be getting the results.
